The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has expressed the association’s readiness to collaborate with Cancer Society of Nigeria. she disclosed this during a visit by the members of the association to NAOWA National Secretariat Abuja.

The NAOWA President, assured the association that NAOWA is willing to partner with the Cancer Society of Nigeria, stating that NAOWA has long been engaged in promoting cancer awareness campaign to barracks community. She emphasized that with the partnership, NAOWA and Cancer Society of Nigeria can change the narratives and raise awareness on cancer in the country.

Speaking earlier, the President Cancer Society of Nigeria, Dr Adamu Alhassan appreciated the NAOWA President for the warm reception accorded, as he narrated that the Cancer Society of Nigeria is the umbrella body of all cancer related NGO’s in Nigeria. He further sought collaboration with NAOWA in fighting cancer in Nigeria.

Dr Alhassan also appealed to the President to assist in galvanising other sister associations in the Armed Forces to key into the course. He therefore used the opportunity to inform the NAOWA President that they have embarked on training more people on cervical cancer, which according to him would help in achieving the dreams of eradicating the disease.

Other NGOs in attendance under Cancer Society of Nigeria are Hadita Cancer Foundation, Niola Cancer Foundation, Atinuke Cancer Foundation and End Cervical Cancer Nigeria Initiative .

Hight point of the visit were presentation of souvenir, signing of visitors’ book and group photographs.
