Not less than 50 Soldiers’ wives recently trained by the National President Nigerian Army Officers wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai were presented with starter package after a month training received on various skills. The graduation ceremony which took place at the NAOWA Institute of Management and Technology Abuja (NIMTA) was attended by NAOWA member, friends and relatives of the beneficiaries.
Speaking to the participants, the National president NAOWA, Mrs Umma-kalsum Tukur Buratai who was represented by Mrs Hussaina Nani congratulated the participants and urged them to make good use of their skills and put it to practice for the betterment of their family condition.
She stated that the empowerment programme is designed to meet one of the cardinal objective of NAOWA towards women empowerment within the barracks. She stated that the programme will be extended to other barracks.
Presenting his brief on the training, the Rector NIMTA, Major Mustapha Mahmood stated that the participants received one month training by special instructors in the area of Confectioneries, Soap Making, Bed sheet and throw pillow, Shoe and bag making.
In her vote of thanks Mrs Habiba Mohammed expressed appreciation to Mrs Buratai for the gesture and promised to make good use of the skills and materials given to them. Highlight of the event was the inspection and presentation of the items produced during training.
