The National President Nigerian Army officers wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai has been commended for ensuring continuity and consolidating on the achievements of her predecessors.
The General Officer commanding 1 Division Maj Gen Farouk Yahaya stated this when the NAOWA Boss paid him a courtesy visit at Headquarters 1 Division Kaduna. He said NAOWA has under the leadership of Mrs Buratai grown to a formidable philanthropic organisation to reckon with.
He commended the NAOWA boss for keeping the homefront as the Nigerian Army continue to make sacrifices to keep the country safe and United. The GOC also expressed delight in developmental projects undertake by NAOWA in area of education, health, skills acquisition and philanthropic activities. He maintained that the division has since keyed into the Chief of Army Staff vision of barrack investment programme. He revealed over 345 youths were recently trained in various skills acquisition programmes.
He equally commended the chief of Army staff for improving the welfare of troops by renovating and constructing befiting accommodation for officers and soldiers.
In her earliers remarks, the NAOWA boss commended the GOC for always supporting NAOWA programmes. She stated that she was in kaduna to commission vital NAOWA projects undertaken by NAOWA chairperson Mrs Salamatu Yahaya.
She revealed that all NAOWA establishments have been reactivated and upgraded for optimum efficiency while new projects such as the NAOWA Specialist hospital and the new NAOWA college Kurudu are on the verge of being commissioned.
Mrs Buratai also visited Depot Nigerian Army Zaria where she commissioned a new NAOWA secreteriat and other projects undertaken by NAOWA Coordinator Depot Nigerian Army Zaria.
Highlight of the programme were charity outreach to widows of fallen heroes and philanthropic visit to hospitalized children and women.
