The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Mohammed Saad Abubakar III has advocated for military support from family members of military personnel and the public. This call was made when Members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) led by its National President Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Sokoto.
He said officer’s wives must continue to keep the home front while their husbands are out in the field. “Without a peaceful home, your husband cannot perform their duty as required” he said. The Royal father also urged NAOWA to take up the challenges of caring for victims of insurgency especially the orphants.
Earlier speaking, the National President NAOWA Mrs Umma kalsum Tukur Buratai said the members of the association were at the state to commission new NAOWA School built by NAOWA 1 Brigade Giginya Barracks Sokoto. She also revealed that the association was going to carryout charity outreach to widows of fallen heroes and to Noma Hospital for people with special disability.
Responding, Right Honourable Aminu Tambuwal said the state government is partnering with the Nigerian Army to establish more schools and a tertiary hospital in sokoto state.
Highlight of the programme was the commissioning of the NAOWA Nursery Primary School Giginya Barracks sokoto, charity outreach to widows of fallen heroes and donation of hospital equipment, beverages, clothing and cleaning materials to patients on special treatment at Noma Hospital Sokoto.
