Wife of the executive governor of Plateau State, Mrs Regina Lalong has pledged her support to the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) in affecting lives of the less privileged in the society. She made this revelation when NAOWA National President, Mrs Umma-Kalsum Tukur Buratai led a delegation of her members on a courtesy visit to Plateau State government house at Ray Field, Jos.
Mrs Lalong commended wives of military personnel saying, “The task of taking care of the home front while your husbands are in the battle struggling to keep the nation united is a herculean one”. She urged the women to remain focused in the good works they are doing, adding that, their labour would not go unrewarded.
Mrs Regina Lalong thanked men and women of the Armed Forces for the roles they played for the return of peace in Plateau, saying, “I welcome you to Plateau state home of peace and tourism and I assure you that peace has come to stay in Plateau through the efforts of your husbands and I also appreciate men and women of the Armed Forces for this achievement”,She added.
Speaking earlier, Mrs UKT Buratai described the visit as a way of expressing gratitude to the First Lady for her continued support to 3 Div Chapter of NAOWA and to also invite her to the commissioning ceremony of classrooms block in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos,built by 3 Div NAOWA for the Model Nursery and Primary School.
The NAOWA president stated that, her organisation is a charitable non-profitand Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has contributed immensely in reducing poverty in the society, adding that the generosity of the organisation has touched the IDPs, Prisons, Orphanages, Hospitals, youth and women empowerment through Skill Acquisition Initiative Programme in every Barracks and beyond.
